It absolutely amazes me how a drop in temperature and a few inches of snow brings this
modern country of ours to a standstill.
Our schools have highly efficient and reliable heating systems that break down the moment
a flake of snow descends from above and the health and safety dictators deem
playgrounds as potential disaster areas. Modern cars with anti-locking all wheel drive multi-
slip differential traction control type stuff instantly become useless with a dusting of slightly
frozen water. We run out of grit and minor roads become impassable leaving us all huddled
at home unable to get to work.
It's all quite unbelievable how we've become so unable to cope. When I were a lad...
